Hello group i recently had a detached garage built here in chicago and am looking to make it into a workshop during the winter months. Add a few a frame dormers get the building customized with your colors add more windows or doors. This is our most economical choice in detached multiple car garages that are built on site. The original insulation was near 40 years old and sitting below the ceiling joists in many spots.

I have started to insulate the walls however i am definitely confused about what to do with the roof as far as insulation and or venting. If you want to make the garage truly your own custom options are almost limitless. No access to garage attic the wires dont have to be accessable but any junction box or connection of any kind has to have access to it. Any pointers on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Several years ago we wanted to beef up the insulation in our main attic to help make our home more energy efficient.
